Mouse on the Hill~ Food, Wonderful Foooooood!

Now I love every section in this shop and you will know that I am telling the truth because I have my tail on my heart when I say it. There isn’t a favourite, every section has its different merits for different needs but when my stomach grumbles and mind has no time for ideas on what to cook the family…the cookery section speaks to me and nothing will get in my way…do you like to cook?! I like to cook, in fact, I love to cook a varied selection of cuisines from all over the world. The shop has some wonderful and colourful inspirational cookbooks for me or you out there!!

Let’s start off with something warm and cosy, Winter Warmers: 60 cosy cocktails for Autumn and Winter by Jassy Davis and illustrated by Sarah Ferone. I tuck myself up with a nice steaming hot glass of mulled milk and a little mince pie, well little for you and rather large for me. I cope because that’s what a mouse does. Yummy yum yum!!!

Now, not to sound like a cliché with my mouse intentions and preferences but when I smell cheese it draws me in and it is improbable to stop me from at least a nibble. So, you can imagine the excitement that shot through me when I saw a book called British Cheese on Toast: Over 100 recipes with Farmhouse Cheeses by Steve Parker. All sorts of cheeses on all sorts of toast…I mean put me in a food coma now.

Recently I have mixed things up, with vegetarian dishes. I must confess that I never used to be a fan of all vegetarian diets but since I have found my spectacles I found myself diving into Root, Stem, Leaf, Flower by Gill Meller, oh the gems that I’ve found…Tomatoes in the hole with red onions, garlic, rosemary and thyme is a mouthwatering combination. Satisfises the tastebuds and is a far better result than the time that I tried to live in a cracker and cheese house I had built. As you can imagine one nibble leads to another nibble and before I knew it I had an oversize belly and had to look for a new home. It was fun though. Oh well, life’s little journeys.

Now must dash…more cooking to be done and creations to bake.
