Children's Storytelling and bookmaking workshop with author Tanya Rosie

  • Books on the Hill 1 Holywell Hill St Albans, England, AL1 1ER United Kingdom (map)

Join us for an exciting Easter treat where author Taya Rosie will be reading from her book Mum, Me and the Mulberry Tree. After a reading, Rosie will talk to the children about how to make their own picture book before letting the children create their own.

We highly recommend reserving your free ticket here to avoid disappointment.

About the book~

A tender, warm-hearted picture book brimming with the love, energy, and anticipation of having a special day with someone you love. Will there be many and will they be ripe? Mum whispers, "Just wait and see." As the sun starts to rise, a mother and daughter head out, hand in hand, on their annual outing together. A special tradition, just the two of them.

They're leaving the town behind and going to the wild fields, where their mulberry tree is waiting. There's juice on their hands and stains on their shirts as they collect berries and share a picnic; then its home to savour crumbly, sticky slices of fresh mulberry pie... Brought to life by Chuck Groenink's soft and vivid illustrations, this is a deeply resonant story, warm with the joy of tradition and the sweetness of moments spent with people we love.

About the author~

Tanya Rosie studied English Literature in Nottingham, Vancouver, and London, before becoming an editor, author, and passionate reader of children's books. She currently works as a commissioning editor at Walker Books, and also loves to write poems and picture books of her own. Mum, Me, and the Mulberry Tree is her debut. Tanya grew up in Milton Keynes in a household filled with Iranian traditions (from her mum), and a few Scottish ones, too (from her dad). In all her writing, she likes to capture something of the way it was being a child. She now lives in St Albans.
