Join us for a new series of workshops, taking place in our Reading Rooms during the week. This series is an introduction to different skill sets that can help calm the mind and is perfect for those wishing to be introduced to a new range of activities.
The session ~
For April we will be heading out into the grounds of the Cathedral*, where you can bring along your artistic tool kit, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon capturing the beauty of the scenery around you. This will be a relaxed session where we will sit in the grounds of the cathedral and draw an area of our choosing. Your focus can be the architecture of the cathedral or an area of the gardens, the choice is yours. Our session leader will also help with queries throughout the session.
This event is ideal for all abilities, and we will discuss some basic principles of drawing, how to approach a new reference piece, and the best techniques.
Tea and coffee will be available at the start and end of the session when at the shop.
Places are limited so to avoid disappointment we do recommend booking your place here.
Materials~
Please bring a selection of the materials listed below:
At least five sheets of paper (A4 or larger), either loose or in a sketchbook/pad
At least two graphite pencils, preferably of different grades but not essential (e.g. HB & 4B)
At least one pack of charcoal
A rubber
pencil sharpener
Some materials will be available on the day if you forget but we advise you to bring your own so that you can enjoy the session and continue creating after the session has ended.
Please meet at the Bookshop where we will start introductions with a cup of tea before heading out into the grounds.
*If the weather means we are unable to sit in the cathedral grounds we will look to undertake the session in our Reading Rooms with a potential visit inside the Cathedral if it is free this day.
