“National Poetry Day is the annual mass celebration on the first Thursday of October that encourages everyone to make, experience and share poetry with family and friends. Each year we come together because voices, words and stories help to bridge understanding in our community.”

This year, National Poetry Day is on Thursday 5th October 2023 with the threme of Refuge.

To celebrate this we will be holding a poetry coffee morning where you can listen to or share your poetry in the comfort of our Reading Rooms Cafe. Your poems do not necessarily have to follow the theme this year but we do ask they are suitable for all audiences as this is a daytime event.
