Mouse on the Hill ~ Children's Pop-Up Book Recommendations

My Pop Popperty Pop up World on the Hill

Good evening, now now folks, I am going to let you in on a little light-hearted secret…one of my favourite things to do, wait ssh…phew…sorry about that someone was going past my door. It is late and we are open later tonight. Thursdays and Fridays, if you didn’t know, right, where was I? Yes, yes, so one of my favourite things to do is when it is quiet at night and it is just me in the shop, I go on a little adventure! This little for you but rather large for me venture takes me into some pop up fantastical magical destinations. I pop them open and run all through them like any good mouse would do.

There are the pop-up books of Harry Potter, they have a stunning book of A Hogwarts Christmas Pop Up and the beautiful pop-up edition of the Philosopher's Stone, I scurry and scramble through the Wizarding World…

I move onto Frances Hodgson Burnets’ The Secret Garden with its interactive elements and illustrated by MinaLima. Oh, I love the secret garden. It reminds me of getting lost during my summer holiday with my cousin. We would go on the most secretive of adventures throughout the garden and it was ours just like the children in this book. If I didn’t have this cosy place to curl up in at night, I would be a garden mouse.

After that, I would go watch and join in with Bauhaus Ballet: A Pop-up Performance, Words by Gabby Dawnay, and illustrations by Lesley Barnes. A wonderful night of entertainment and beautifully crafted. I can’t help myself; I get involved and it is good for my health, keeps me on my toes!

Then just before bed, I take off to the moon via the Pop-up Moon book. Written and engineered by Anne Jankeliowitch and Olivier Charbonnel and Illustrated by Annabelle Buxton. I have learned so many fascinating facts about the history of the moon. It is all very educational too and you learn about the history of the moon.

I must mention the Pop-up Volcano By Bernard Duisit (Author) and Tom Vaillant (Illustrator) and the great Chess on Earth A game of day and night by Daniel Well. It has a story about Chess that teaches any young reader how to play chess and includes a chessboard to create and play it on.

These are all fantastic books and even better gifts!!! You simply must come and see them, you’ll be most welcome! Now, I must go, the shop is shut now and I must have my dinner or I’ll get hangry and no one likes a hangry mouse! I believe that my nose tells me there is a biscuit or several in the stockroom…

jingle jingle for now...
